Problem
In a repo with a root
rstack.config.ts(nodefine.test()) and a nestedhost/rstest.config.ts, both projects includehost/tests/*.test.ts. Both published a TestItem for the same file, VS Code merged them into one gutter action, and one click ran the file in both projects: the root run failed (Cannot find module 'remote/formatPrice', no host alias) and the host run passed.The root scope itself is intentional:

Overlapping files appear under both project nodes.startTestRun),routeToOwners(runRouting.ts) keeps only the items whose project root is deepest and reports the others skipped, so the merged gutter state reflects the run that actually happened. Ownership is decided per request from the published items, which already reflect each config's include/exclude. An explicit selection of one project's own node, project / folder / Run All requests, andrstack.rstest.runInTerminalare unchanged.packages/vscode/AGENTS.md; Test file owner added toCONTEXT.md.Tests
runRouting.test.ts(deepest root kept, others dropped, ties kept, explicit single-project selection kept, order preserved).e2e/rstest/suite/bridge.test.ts, fixturee2e/fixtures/rstest-ownership): both projects publish the host file; a request including both file items (and both case items) runs only the host copy and reports the root copy skipped; Run on the root node keeps the CLI scope and fails the root copy with the missing@host-valuealias while the host copy is untouched.
