Looks like the dependency on ply that got added in 0.85, and the corresponding import error fix in flux-core's bindings for 0.86 need to be added here too? Just ran into that and had to manually install ply to get things working. (fix was here: flux-framework/flux-core#7591)
Looks like lazy importing (or maybe something else in the build system?) hides the error too if you go looking for it. Without ply installed the bindings still install but the 'job' package just isn't there (and no warnings/errors about it) when you do a dir(flux) after importing flux; have to do import flux.job more directly to get it to throw the actual import error that resulted.
This was with the 0.88 package from pypi.
