A status outside the kanban mapping lands in the unknown column, which the list and interactive views hide by default - the document looks tracked while no view shows it. The banks already held 21 such values (delivered, planned, framed, draft, frozen, ready-for-implementation...).

scripts/check-task-status.js fails pre-commit (and validate.yml through it) on any declared status outside the lifecycle vocabulary of plan-status.md plus the creation statuses the templates stamp. A test pins the gate's list onto the kanban's own raw-status mapping, and a ratchet test keeps the three banks clean. The existing violations are normalized: recent root documents keep their declared progress, the cli archive of shipped work settles on its terminal state.
